Yash Sharma

City of Beaumont - City Council Candidate

I publish newspaper for the last ten years. I am on Beaumont Community Events Committee, Canada Day Sub-Committee and Culture Days Sub-Committee. I was on Business Recruitment Team (BRT) of The Town of Sylvan Lake and helped with Big ticketed ventures.

How will you support the Beaumont's competitive advantage and market affordable housing? How do you see fees, levies, taxes and municipal cost control playing a role in housing affordability? Note: CHBA-ER refers to “market affordable housing” as housing that is market priced and meets the general requirements of affordability based on household income. Market affordable housing may include market rental housing and market home ownership.

Two divisions are underway. Developers face lots of red tap at City Hall. Beaumont needs lots of Tax Revenue. I will work with investors to gain their confidence so that tax revenue from Light Industry/Commercial should increase. I target 20% contribution and 80% from residential. We have houses much cheaper than Edmonton and will work too evolve strategy to support affordable housing.

What steps do you believe are necessary to reduce red tape and support business investment in the residential construction industry?

Firstly, developers should not face harassments while getting permits. Business investment will only come by gaining confidence. I have strong presence in South Asian community as I publish "Asian Tribune" for the last ten years and 75% of our folks are into businesses/investment. I will be their connect.

Do you support welcoming a diversity of housing types throughout Beaumont?

My platform is diversity in every field. I am already on Beaumont Community Events Committee.

Is there anything about your platform that you think CHBA-ER members should know?

The most suitable, experienced and connected Candidate who will bring growth to Beaumont.
