He has over ten years of experience of working with all levels of government, utilities, corporations and non-profits to identify and find solutions to address climate and energy-related issues in the built environment. Over this time, he has worked directly on a range of topics including: energy performance codes and standards, low-carbon building programs, provincial-level strategic climate plans, building energy labelling and benchmarking, and workforce capacity building and training. Rick Lystang has been building homes since he was nine years old. Helping his father build their family home as a kid he has been around construction sites ever since. Rick holds a Master Builder designation with the Professional Home builders institute as well as being one of their trainers for construction sales and fundamentals. Trained also as Architectural Technologist by the Northern Alberta institute of Technology he quickly realized being a draftsman was not allowing him to be as involved hands on with construction. Taking on leadership every chance, he got Rick quickly moved up through the industry ranks. Estimating, Site Superintendent, Construction management, and eventually in the role of general manager of some of the top builders in Edmonton. Sitting on the board of directors for PHBI, and CHBA Edmonton Rick has been very involved in advocating and working with his industry on education. Rick is always willing to network and assist new builders as well as his old builder friends should the need arise. After the housing crash of 2008 Rick started his own company Rococo Homes Inc. His small company has been recognized both provincially and locally in the Awards of Excellence in Housing. Dedicating his life to construction there has been very little he has not seen in residential construction over the past 30 years and well over 2500 homes. |

Cory McCambridge is an Engineered Wood Specialist for The Engineered Wood Association. Cory brings over 10 years of architectural and structural design and analysis experience with a proven track record in value engineering. He has spent most of his career working in the pre-fabricated panel industry as a design manager for various facilities located across Canada and has a thorough understanding of engineered wood products and systems. In his work for APA, Cory consults with and conducts workshops for designers, code officials, and other building professionals on best practices for specification, selection, and application of engineered wood products. |
Juan Monterrosa |
Juan Monterrosa is the Director of Safety Codes, Permits and Inspections at the City of Edmonton. Previous to this role he was tasked with implementing the energy code for the City of Edmonton. In his 14 years of experience he has worked with design and construction teams in a consulting capacity and in the regulatory environment. His projects ranged from full neighbourhoods and commercial redevelopment, high performing buildings to infrastructure projects. More recently he is working on projects focused on streamlining the permitting process and preparing a team for changes to codes and building industry. Juan takes a data driven approach to decision making and process improvements.With a passion for positive change in the built environment, Juan is continually is looking to collaborate with change makers and innovators.

Bob Moon |
Bob Moon is the VP of sales and marketing for Gem Cabinets, and has been in the residential housing industry for over 35 years. Bob has been a cribber, framer, and site superintendent, which has allowed him to view the industry from multiple perspectives. He has been involved with the CHBA on committees and as a member of the board of directors in 2015/16. Bob has been involved with numerous trade councils and Lean workshops, and has been an exhibitor with the RCIC since inception. Darrell Paul |
Darrell Paul started bending nails as a framing carpenter 35 years ago. He then worked as a site supervisor, construction manager and marketing manager completing his Master Home Builder and Master Home Renovator certifications in 1997. He has taught the SAIT “Moisture Control Technician” course for the past 11 years as well as other PHBIA and SAIT courses. Darrell’s company Qualistat Building Performance Consultants provides moisture, energy and HVAC consulting and testing services to builders and warranty providers in the Red Deer area for single and multi-family wood frame buildings. He is also an HRAI Certified Residential Air System Design Technician, Level 2 Thermographer, NRCan Certified Energy Advisor, which he says has allowed him to convince his wife to buy some of the “coolest” tools you’ll ever use. |

Marvin Washington is a full professor in the Alberta School of Business and Associate Dean of Executive Education. Dr. Washington’s research, teaching, and consulting focus is on processes of organizational and institutional change. He is the author of three books on leadership and organizational change. His most recent book is on developing your personal mastery (Leading Self before Leading Others with Stephen Hacker at Business Expert Press). Marvin has taught undergraduates, graduates, and executives during his 12 year tenure at the University.
