Jeff is a 44-year-old, lifelong resident of Spruce Grove. He’s married to his amazing wife, Jodie, and a proud father of their teenage daughter, Sophia. He is a three-term Council member, local business owner and an active service club, church, school, and community volunteer. |
How will you support the City of Spruce Grove's competitive advantage and market affordable housing? How do you see fees, levies, taxes and municipal cost control playing a role in housing affordability? Note: CHBA-ER refers to “market affordable housing” as housing that is market priced and meets the general requirements of affordability based on household income. Market affordable housing may include market rental housing and market home ownership.
It is essential to ensure that Spruce Grove remains competitive and works with our industry partners to bring to market choice in housing at an affordable price. I would like to see a strengthened relationship with developers and home builders that is based on a partnership for community building and success.
I am also committed to ensuring the the City does its part in terms of reviewing our fees, levies and taxes along with the internal processes to ensure the the City of Spruce Grove is an attractive place to invest and live. |
What steps do you believe are necessary to reduce red tape and support business investment in the residential construction industry? Fundamentally we need to ensure that we are striving for excellence in terms of turn around time for permits and inspections while ensuring all regulatory and code requirements are met. Looking at our internal processes to ensure they meet the demand and we are proactive in finding efficiencies and being effective will help provide the necessary support to the residential construction industry as well as existing homeowners and businesses looking to invest in Spruce Grove. |
Do you support welcoming a diversity of housing types throughout Spruce Grove? It is important to ensure there is a wide selection of housing styles to meet the needs and demands of our community through each stage of their life and I have supported in the past and will continue to work with industry in finding opportunities and solutions moving forward. In the upcoming term the City of Spruce Grove will be working on our next Municipal Development Plan which will allow us to hear from our community and define our vision for the next 10 years. |
Is there anything about your platform that you think CHBA-ER members should know? Spruce Grove, perhaps now more than ever, needs experienced and passionate leaders to help guide our community through the current economic challenges facing our community and bring us towards an exciting and bright future.
This upcoming term will be a difficult one as we emerge from a world-wide pandemic and a struggling Alberta economy that has highlighted a need for strengthening social supports. Acker’s strong leadership to find creative ways to move forward will re-imagine existing challenges into community-driven successes.
Acker advocates for a renewed community vision that recognizes the achievements and traditions of Spruce Grove’s past, while embracing new ideas and approaches for today and our future.
