CHBA-Edmonton Region  is proud to present two exciting viewing options for the 2021 Awards of Excellence in Housing event, presented by Star Mechanical, on June 19, 2021. Members can choose between an exciting drive-in experience at the Edmonton EXPO Centre or tuning in through a new virtual viewing platform.

Drive-in Experience

What will safety protocol look like at the Drive-In?

  • The Drive-In event will follow regulations set by Alberta Health Services. Regulations are subject to change leading up to the event.
  • You must remain in your vehicle for the duration of the event, unless you are visiting the washroom, and are not permitted to open your rear hatch or sit in the bed of a truck.

How will I get my parking pass for the EXPO Centre?

  • Registered attendees must pick up their drive-in parking pass from the CHBA-ER office ahead of the event. Date and time to be confirmed.

How many people can be in my car?

  • We recommend people in your car follow all AHS protocol. Currently, all indoor gatherings are limited to household members only. People who live alone can have up to two close contacts. Regulations are subject to change leading up to the event. All people in your vehicle must be registered for the event.

Can I purchase additional tickets at a later date to add people to my car if regulations change?

  • Yes! You will be able to add up to four additional people to your car up until two weeks before the event.

Can I park next to my colleagues?

  • If you would like to park in a group, you must coordinate to arrive at the same time in order to park together. We will not be able to hold parking spaces for people as it will be first come, first served.

Are there washrooms on site?

  • Yes, there will be washrooms. Washroom availability will adhere to all Alberta Health Protocols.

Do I have to wear a mask to visit the washroom?

  • Yes, you must wear a mask when you exit your vehicle to visit the washroom.

What should you wear?

  • Feel free to wear something with a 1950s Jailhouse Rock flair or whatever you are comfortable in!

What if it is raining?

  • The drive-in will proceed rain or shine.

Do I get out of my car to accept an award if I win?

  • You must remain in your vehicle for the duration of the event, unless you are visiting the washroom, but feel free to cheer and clap!

When can I anticipate getting my award if I am a winner?

  • Winners can expect to receive their trophies the week of June 21, 2021. More information will be provided.

Will there be a vegetarian food option?

  • Yes! We will have a vegetarian and vegan friendly options along with gluten free.

Can I have alcohol while I'm parked?

  • No alcohol, smoking, e-cigarettes, vaping, or illegal substances will be allowed.

Can I sit in the bed of my truck or hatchback/trunk?

  • You must remain in your vehicle for the duration of the movie and are not permitted to open your rear hatch or sit in the bed of a truck.

Can I attend on my motorcycle?

  • We ask that attendees do not attend with a motorcycle, limousine, RV, bus, or any large vehicle that would inhibit the viewing experience of others.

How will I get sound for the Awards?

  • There will be a dedicated radio frequency for you to tune into for sound.

Are tickets transferrable?

  • Should you wish to change from drive-in to virtual, you will be able to transfer your ticket but there will not be a refund on the price difference.

Virtual Experience

How will I get my virtual log in?

  • Individual virtual logins will be emailed to registered attendees ahead of the event.

Can we share virtual logins?

  • Only one person can login with each individual virtual login.

What should you wear?

  • There will be virtual networking tables (with video!) available one hour before the event so feel free to wear something with a 1950s Jailhouse Rock flair or whatever you are comfortable in.

How will the virtual networking work?

  • There will be multiple virtual ‘tables’ set up as part of the new virtual platform. Members will be able to visit different tables to chat and network with other participants. We would encourage everyone taking part to have their cameras turned on for the full experience.

What is the charcuterie box?

  • We are working with a local company, Art of Charcuterie, on a beautiful box that is fit for 1-2 people. Boxes will include a selection of meats, cheeses, fresh fruit and vegetables, preserves, and crackers. A vegetarian option will be available.

When will the Charcuterie box be delivered?

  • Art of Charcuterie boxes will be delivered to the address provided upon registration ahead of the event. Delivery available for Edmonton, Sherwood Park, and St. Albert. 


Are tickets transferrable?

  • Should you wish to change from a virtual ticket to a drive-in, you will be able to transfer your ticket and will be charged for the difference in ticket prices, pending availability.

When can I anticipate getting my award if I am a winner?

  • Winners can expect to receive their trophies the week of June 21, 2021. More information will be provided.
