Bill Hamilton

City of Leduc - Incumbent Candidate

Bill Hamilton is an experienced Councillor having served two terms (2001 - 2004) and (2017 - present). Bill is a long time resident of Leduc with a solid base as a volunteer & community leader. Bill is co-owner & director of sales for Studio Post.

How will you support the City of Leduc's competitive advantage and market affordable housing? How do you see fees, levies, taxes and municipal cost control playing a role in housing affordability? Note: CHBA-ER refers to “market affordable housing” as housing that is market priced and meets the general requirements of affordability based on household income. Market affordable housing may include market rental housing and market home ownership.

Market affordable housing is critical to maintaining Leduc's competitive advantage and council has been very cognoscente of the balance between levies, fees, taxes and municipal cost control. We are striving for an overall more affordable & stable environment in Leduc as we review costs every 3 years.

What steps do you believe are necessary to reduce red tape and support business investment in the residential construction industry?

Continuing solid collaboration with business & builders. Education of our staff on industry issues and continuing to maximize efficiencies in our permitting process.

Do you support welcoming a diversity of housing types throughout Leduc?

Absolutely...my time on the Leduc Regional Housing Foundation constantly reminds me of the need for truly affordable housing. More broadly, long term resident retention requires a "whole community" approach to diversity of housing.
