Andy Andrzej Gudanowski
My name is Andy Andrzej Gudanowski
What steps do you believe are necessary for Edmonton to achieve balanced growth between greenfield and infill development as outlined in the City Plan?
As a councillor I will do everything to keep the city in balance. I won't let the developers overshadow the general looks of the City. I have to be sure that the city does not stand still, but is constantly developing, modernizing, prospering and moving towards the future. Foreign investment will always be welcome in Edmonton, at the same time we need to support our local business. Meetings with local entrepreneurs and foreign investors every 3 months could contribute to creating many opportunities for residents and strengthen the economic status of the City
How will you support Edmonton’s competitive advantage and market affordable housing? How do you see fees, levies, taxes and municipal cost control playing a role in housing affordability? Note: CHBA-ER refers to “market affordable housing” as housing that is market priced and meets the general requirements of affordability based on household income. Market affordable housing may include market rental housing and market home ownership.
Canada is a wealthy enough country, and here everyone should have their own house or apartment. We know very well that the vast majority of rented flats are inhabited by people with low incomes. This year, nearly two and a half million such people were confirmed in Alberta.
Homes where no one lives should be signposted. There are many houses and apartments in Edmonton where no one lives. Some of them don't even have a house number plate.
As long as the system and politicians produce low-income citizens and large numbers of homeless people, we have to bear in mind that these two factors can seriously, one day, damage the economic status of a city.
The city of Edmonton should have a new housing law in place, or at least the one that already exists, changed and updated.
Housing fees, utility fees, taxes, cost control should be adjusted to the pockets of the residents. A very interesting program of building social housing has just started in Poland. Maybe I will have a chance to get to know this idea.
What steps do you believe are necessary to reduce red tape and support business investment in the residential construction industry?
As I said before, the City Council and the Provincial Politicians have a lot of room for action here.
According to me:
Do you support welcoming a diversity of housing types throughout Edmonton?
Of course I support. Each of us likes to have our own unique place to live. It all results from our attachment to the land and aesthetics. The building and the area around it, everything must be well-kept and look different, everything must be aesthetically pleasing and a lot of greenery around. It will be my responsibility that all important and large projects in the city are built and completed on time, and that the works on these construction sites are safe (accident-free).
How do you envision City Council expanding infrastructure capacity to support future development as outlined in the City Plan?
Be able to deal with the past gives us a chance for a better future.
1 Establishing a working group to work on the development strategy 2021 to 2025
2 Outline of the finances needed to implement the strategy
3 It should start with the fact that the city should notify the residents of each subsequent project, where public money will be spent.
4 The city should sell social flats for symbolic sums to people who have lived in for 20 years.
Do you support the goals of the Community Energy Transition Strategy? How do you envision the City of Edmonton achieving these goals?
Yes, I support it and I will do my best to provide the City with access to various cheap energy sources. Introducing new types of wind energy, new ways of using gas, Only electric or hybrid vehicles on the streets. Street lights provided with solar batteries. Roofs of houses are covered with solar panels.
