Red Friday is an annual non-political awareness campaign supported by the Edmonton Salutes Committee. The Edmonton Capital Region is honoured to host over 4,000 serving military members – members who serve our country locally, nationally and internationally.
CHBA-Edmonton Region encourages you to show your support for our military families in appreciation of their service to our community and our country. Wherever you are - at work, at home, or out in the community – please wear something red to honour our troops on Friday, July 23, 2010.
A media launch will be held on Tuesday July 20th at 11:00 a.m. in the Media Room on the second floor of City Hall. Mayor Stephen Mandel will proclaim Red Friday with the help of Base Commander Lt.-Col Thomas Bradley and Edmonton Salutes Committee Co-Chair Councillor Ed Gibbons.
No events are planned for Churchill Square this year. However, you will have an opportunity to wear red and celebrate Red Friday at Capital EX and the 2010 Honda Indy Edmonton. At both events, visit the military booth and enter to win the chance for you and two friends to be a soldier for a day. Click the links above for details.
You will be able to purchase Red Friday gear (shirts, caps, etc.) from the military booths at both the Capital Ex & Indy sites.
Red Friday also features an evening event at the Winspear Centre. Please join the Naden Band of Maritime Forces Pacific at the Winspear for a 7:30 p.m. performance of "Sailors and Songs" to celebrate Canada's Navy Centennial. “Sailors & Songs” is a tribute to a century of Canadian Naval service, a story told through stirring and exhilarating music and exciting and poignant images.
Tickets are modestly priced at $5. Please consider this event as an opportunity to recognize employees, volunteers, or your corporate clients. Tickets may be purchased in bulk starting from 25 up to the volume that meets your needs.
For all ticket orders, individual or group, please contact the Military Family Resource Centre (MFRC) at 780-973-4011 Ext 6300.
